Interior Designer / Home Furnishing Designer
Gates Furniture & Mattress | Grants Pass, OR
We're Looking for a Designer... Not Just a Salesperson.
Do you have an eye for great design? Do friends and family ask for your decorating advice? Do you naturally notice furniture layouts, color palettes, textures, and the little details that make a room feel complete?
If so, we'd love to meet you.
Gates Furniture & Mattress is seeking an Interior Designer / Home Furnishing Designer to join our team. This position is centered around helping clients create beautiful, functional homes through personalized design—not simply selling furniture.
We're looking for someone who is passionate about interior design, enjoys building lasting relationships, and loves helping people bring their vision to life.
Ideal Candidate
We're specifically looking for someone who has:
- Interior design experience (strongly preferred)
- An Interior Design degree or formal design education (highly desired but not required)
- Experience in residential interior design, home staging, visual merchandising, kitchen & bath design, or furniture design is a huge plus.
- A strong understanding of color theory, space planning, furniture scale, textures, lighting, and design styles.
- The ability to confidently create cohesive room designs.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A positive attitude and genuine passion for helping people.
If you have design talent but have never worked in furniture retail—we'd still love to talk. We can teach furniture. We can't teach creativity.
What You'll Be Doing
Every day you'll work directly with customers to:
- Design beautiful, personalized living spaces
- Recommend furniture, mattresses, rugs, artwork, lighting, and accessories
- Assist with room layouts and space planning
- Coordinate colors, fabrics, finishes, and design styles
- Help customers visualize complete-room solutions instead of individual pieces
- Build long-term customer relationships through exceptional service
- Stay current on design trends and product collections
- Follow projects from inspiration to delivery
