JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for taking jobs from start to finish. This includes the initial print reading, fabricating, welding, and assembly of custom parts using various materials such as metal, stainless steel, and aluminum for structural parts. This position is responsible for supporting others through directing their work, providing training as needed, and being a general go-to person for the other welding/fabricating employees.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include but are not limited to:
- Cutting, forming, tacking and welding parts together using various types of materials.
- Setting up and safely using various machines including the break press, bandsaw, shear, crane, welders, plasma cutters, grinders and other handheld tools.
- Operating standard and combination forklifts to move materials and finished products.
- Searching the AutoCAD system for dimensions
- Cleaning up after jobs are completed
- Quality checks on final products
- Watching over others’ work to ensure processes and procedures are followed.
- Providing guidance and work directions where necessary for other welders/fabricators.
- Trains new employees on how to safely use machinery and follow procedures.
- Maintains compliance with established safety policies and use of Equipment, including but not limited to policies regarding personal protective equipment, workplace injuries and illnesses, lock out/tag out, etc.
- Completing required safety training.
- Continuing education and training
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include but are not limited to:
- Periodically interact with customers for parts, orders, pick-ups, or questions.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Previous training or experience in welding
- 3+ years of work experience in a machine shop, plant, or manufacturing environment
EXPERIENCE PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or GED
- Blueprint reading
- AutoCAD experience
- Experience leading or training others
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Daily - standing, bending, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Plant environment with limited-climate control to include heat but no A/C. Filtered air and frequent air flow from opening outside doors in the summer.
