- Tompkins County
Candidate must be located within one of the above referenced counties.
This is a business-to-business opportunity. Inspection services are performed under a written contract. Candidate must operate as an established, legally recognized Business entity, or we would be willing to consider an experienced Independent Contractor willing to establish a legally recognized Business entity prior to On Boarding.
Experienced Field Inspectors or other relevant experience is preferred. Currently, special licensing or certifications are not required for these types of inspections.
Description:
Independent Mortgage Field Inspectors are responsible for conducting inspections of properties on behalf of the mortgage company for existing mortgages. Mortgage inspections may be ordered for a variety of servicing, compliance, and risk-management purposes, but the majority of Inspections are most commonly issued when a mortgage is in default, allowing the mortgage company to verify the occupancy status and overall condition of the property.
The Inspector’s primary responsibility is to locate and photograph each property, then complete an inspection report based on their observations. Inspectors complete Exterior Occupancy Verification inspections, Vacant Interior & Exterior Property Inspections, as well as specialty inspections such as damage or disaster inspections. Examples of tasks required include determining whether the property is occupied or vacant, reporting the condition of the property, delivering door cards, determining utility status, and reporting observed damages and maintenance needs.
Inspectors are paid a flat fee per completed inspection work order. There is no mileage reimbursement or reimbursement for other expenses.
Minimum Requirements:
- Legally recognized Business entity such as a Corporation or LLC*
- Field Inspection or other relevant experience.
- Candidate must be located in an area of immediate need outlined above.
- Weekday, daytime Availability on a year-round basis. Inspections must be completed during daylight hours. Part-time availability is acceptable, but minimum of 5-6 hours of availability is needed to complete inspections efficiently and effectively.

PLEASE NOTE: Mortgage Servicers require an Industry Standard Background Check for all Contractors conducting Property Inspections. A Background check will be conducted at the time of On Boarding, and yearly thereafter.
* We are seeking a local, legally recognized Business entity, such as an LLC or Corp, or an Independent Contractor willing to establish a legally recognized Business entity to provide Inspection services under a written contract. We do not contract with Individuals or Sole Proprietorships.
