DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position provides structured classroom and hands-on instruction in the electrical trade for inmates at SCI Chester. Your work will support facility operations wile helping learners build practical vocational abilities. As a Corrections Electrical Trade Instructor, you will perform the following duties:

- Classroom Instruction: Teach electrical trade practices and methods in a structured learning setting
- Hands-On Training: Guide inmates through real work assignments involving installation, repair, and maintenance tasks
- Work Crew Oversight: Lead inmate work crews and review completed work for accuracy and safety
- Materials Management: Issue, track, and account tools and materials used during training and work assignments, conduct searches as needed
- Record Keeping: Document inmate attendance, progress, and assignment details

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,868.00 (before taxes). A higher salary may be established in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Five years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment used in buildings; or
- Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the electrical trade; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the electrical trade.
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
