STG Auto Group is one of Southern California's leading automotive groups. Our Vehicle Acquisition Center specializes in purchasing vehicles directly from the public, and we are seeking experienced Vehicle Inspectors to join our growing team.
This role is ideal for automotive professionals with strong inspection and documentation skills who enjoy working with customers and helping facilitate vehicle purchase transactions.
Position Summary
The Vehicle Inspector is responsible for conducting thorough vehicle inspections, verifying ownership documentation, identifying potential fraud risks, and assisting customers throughout the vehicle purchasing process.
The ideal candidate has a strong automotive background, understands vehicle condition assessment, and can efficiently inspect vehicles while maintaining exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities Vehicle Inspections
- Perform comprehensive vehicle inspections in a timely and efficient manner.
- Identify and document:
- Mechanical issues
- Cosmetic damage
- Prior collision repairs
- Frame and structural damage
- Tire, brake, suspension, and safety concerns
- Warning lights and diagnostic issues
- Accurately document vehicle condition and inspection findings.
- Follow company inspection procedures and standards.
Documentation & Ownership Verification
- Review and verify vehicle ownership documentation.
- Validate titles, registrations, lien releases, and supporting ownership paperwork.
- Identify fraudulent documents, title discrepancies, ownership concerns, and potential legal risks.
- Ensure all transactions comply with California DMV requirements and company policies.
- Help protect the company from fraud, losses, and legal exposure.
Customer Service & Transaction Support
- Deliver a professional and positive customer experience.
- Communicate inspection findings clearly and professionally.
- Build trust and rapport with customers selling their vehicles.
- Assist customers through the vehicle purchase process.
- Work closely with acquisition managers and support staff to complete transactions efficiently.
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum 3 years of professional vehicle inspection experience.
- Ability to efficiently inspect vehicles in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of vehicle mechanical systems.
- Ability to identify cosmetic damage, prior repairs, and frame or structural issues.
- Experience reviewing vehicle ownership documents and DMV-related paperwork.
- Strong attention to detail and fraud awareness.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work directly with customers in a professional manner.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred
- Dealership, service department, body shop, auction, or vehicle inspection experience.
- Knowledge of California DMV title and registration procedures.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
