About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Electromechanical Engineering Technician to build, test, maintain, and troubleshoot robotic and electromechanical systems.
This is a hands-on lab and hardware engineering role for someone experienced with assembly, electronics, soldering, wiring, testing, prototyping, and mechanical troubleshooting.
You will work closely with hardware engineers to turn designs into working robotic systems and keep prototype and test equipment operating reliably.
What You’ll Do
- Assemble robots and electromechanical systems from engineering drawings.
- Install motors, actuators, sensors, wiring, and connectors.
- Perform soldering, electronics rework, and wiring.
- Test and calibrate robotic and electronic assemblies.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems.
- Perform preventive maintenance and robot repairs.
- Operate 3D printers and fabrication tools.
- Build fixtures, jigs, and test stations.
- Inspect parts and completed assemblies for quality.
- Maintain inventory, tools, equipment, and spare parts.
- Document builds, testing, repairs, and maintenance.
- Support prototype builds and engineering design changes.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in engineering, manufacturing, assembly, testing, or prototyping.
- Experience with electromechanical systems.
- Hands-on experience with motors, actuators, sensors, wiring, and connectors.
- Strong soldering and electronics rework experience.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, and BOMs.
- Experience with 3D printing, hand tools, and power tools.
- Experience using multimeters, power supplies, and oscilloscopes.
- Basic knowledge of Python and Linux.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to work independently with strong documentation and organization skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with robotics or industrial automation.
- Experience maintaining robot arms or industrial equipment.
- CNC machining, welding, or sheet metal fabrication experience.
- IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 training.
- Experience with CAN bus, RS-485, UART, or I2C.
- Experience using ERP, PLM, or inventory systems.
- Experience with SolidWorks, Onshape, or similar CAD software.
Work Environment
- Full-time, on-site position in San Francisco, CA.
- No regular travel or customer-site field service.
- Occasional local trips to suppliers or machine shops.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be comfortable standing and working with tools for extended periods.
