Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of patient care, medical procedures, and healthcare technology systems. This role offers an opportunity to provide compassionate, expert nursing services across diverse clinical settings, including acute care, outpatient clinics, long-term care facilities, and community health environments. The Registered Nurse will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient-centered care while adhering to regulatory standards and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cerner and Epic.
- Administer medications via various routes including IV infusion, injections, and oral medications in accordance with prescribed orders and safety protocols.
- Manage complex clinical procedures such as catheterization, suturing, tube feeding, ventilator management, and ostomy care with precision and aseptic technique.
- Coordinate patient care plans through case management strategies, discharge planning, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations including specimen collection/processing, laboratory testing, and interpretation of results like ICD coding (ICD-9/10) for accurate documentation.
- Provide specialized care in areas such as ICU (Intensive Care Unit), trauma medicine at Level I/II trauma centers, neonatal intensive care (NICU), pediatric units, geriatrics, hospice & palliative medicine, and behavioral health settings.
- Demonstrate proficiency in emergency response procedures including airway management, basic life support (BLS), triage protocols, and acute pain management techniques.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality while managing medical records and documentation accurately.
- Educate patients and families on health coaching topics such as medication administration, nutrition, chronic disease management (e.g., infectious disease care), and post-acute recovery processes.
- Maintain infection control standards through proper sterilization practices and aseptic techniques across all clinical activities.
Experience
- Proven experience working in diverse healthcare environments including hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, urgent care centers, or home & community care settings.
- Critical care experience in ICU or trauma centers is highly desirable; familiarity with Level I/II trauma center protocols is preferred.
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Epic for documentation and patient data management.
- Background in medical-surgical nursing with additional expertise in specialties like cardiology (cardiac catheterization), nephrology (dialysis), ophthalmology (Botulinum toxin treatment), or geriatrics is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to perform advanced procedures such as phlebotomy, venipuncture, laboratory specimen collection/processing, and sterile processing techniques.
- Knowledge of healthcare coding systems including ICD-9/10 coding standards for accurate medical documentation and billing purposes.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays in settings such as assisted living or long-term care facilities is beneficial.
