GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Manage the functions of the press room and weld department operations.
REPORTS TO: Production Manager
SUPERVISION GIVEN:
Manages all Team leads and Associates assigned to Production
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires use of office equipment such as computer, keyboards, telephone, facsimiles, and copiers. May require bending, stooping, stretching, climbing ladders, and standing for extended periods of time. Requires normal hearing, vision, and speak range.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in office and factory environments
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for directing, scheduling, supervising, and managing the press room and weld department.
2. Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training and development.
3. Ensure quality standards are monitored and maintained. Responsible for maintaining quality standards and implementing ISO/TS16949 objectives & policies.
4. Responsible for recording, and enforcing performance metrics and monitoring budgeted and expected performance to established plant goals and objectives.
5. Use training program to improve the working knowledge of associates assigned in these departments. Monitor and determine the effectiveness of plant training programs and direct changes to enhance the working knowledge of all plant employees
6. Monitor three waste categories and communicate with operations manager any cost above acceptable limits (OT, Scrap, Rework).
7. Communicate with scheduling and other suppliers to ensure necessary materials, tooling availability, and container requirements to ensure the integrity of the production schedule is maintained.
8. Ensure all associates comply with the policies and procedures of McGregor Metalworking Companies. Ensure consistent and fair treatment of all associates assigned to these departments.
9. Work with plant leadership and other managers to develop a lean culture with the expectation of providing quality products, delivered on time, and at a world class efficiency level.
10. Evaluate employees and conducts periodic reviews of performance, attendance, quality, and behavior. Take appropriate action when employees are not performing to expectations in any of these categories.
11. Ensure departmental expectations are provided to our associates, monitored for compliance and hold employees accountable for their results.
12. Set a high personal example of professionalism: attire, attitude, attendance, accountability and leadership.
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associates or Bachelors in Business or equivalent.
- Previous supervision experience required.
- Previous experience working in a press shop preferred.
- Knowledge of robotics/robotic welding preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Steel-toed shoes and safety glasses required while performing duties in production areas.
