Job Summary
The Director of Nursing performs the primary functions of professional nurse leader in assessing, planning, directing and evaluating patient care. The Director of Nursing is a member of the Administrative Council.
Duties
- Provides strategic management and leadership for the nursing department.
- Demonstrates clinical competence while providing oversight of competency validation in all areas of nursing services.
- Interacts with Medical Staff on regular basis and acts as liaison between nursing and physicians to facilitate strategic planning and problem solving.
- Oversees nursing orientation, continuing education and maintenance of nursing competencies.
- Responsible for the development of nursing policies within area of responsibility.
- Responsible for coordinating Joint Commission survey readiness.
- Holds nursing staff accountable for delivery of quality patient care.
- Actively participates in patient care decision-making with board, medical staff and other supervisors.
- Assists with interviewing, selecting and orienting staff for the nursing department.
- Responsible for cost effective fiscal management of all nursing units and operates within approved budget parameters.
- Assures excellence is achieved in clinical outcomes and customer satisfaction by leading Continuous Quality Improvement activities within the nursing department.
- Delegates effectively to nursing supervisors empowering them to consistently hold staff accountable for reliable, quality, and competent performance.
- Performs rounds on a regular basis to assess patient care environment, quality and patient satisfaction.
- Responsible for conducting regular unit nursing staff meetings.
Experience
- Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Five years preferred in a management or supervisory role.
- Current Illinois RN license, ACLS and PALS certification required.
- Emergency Room experience preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $113,276.00 - $159,744.00 per year
