Renewable Solar Inc is a self-performing Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) company licensed in C-46, C-10, and General B, executing utility-scale ground-mount solar projects from 1MW to 20MW throughout California. RSI’s Electrical Division is expanding beyond solar into medium voltage systems, electrical infrastructure, EV charging, and federal construction.
Renewable Solar Inc. is seeking a Certified Journeyman Electrician to support our growing workload. In this role, you will construct electrical systems for 100 kW to 5 MW systems and larger.
Job Description
We are currently seeking a skilled Certified Journeyman Electrician to perform and supervise the installation of electrical power distribution systems for a commercial project. This is a contracted position in Aromas, CA.
The Certified Journeyman Electrician will support field construction activities while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications and applicable electrical codes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform new installation of low- to medium-voltage power distribution systems, including transformers, underground and above-ground conduit work, switchgear, AC/DC inverters, and electrical equipment.
- Interface with and complete construction activities required for utility interconnection.
- Interpret complex electrical schematics and blueprints to plan work scopes, install requested improvements, troubleshoot, and correct problems.
- Work with the Electrical Engineering team to assist in the design and refinement of plans.
- The RSI electrical department operates under the WECA apprenticeship program. If you are not a journeyman, you are expected to enroll in the program and comply with WECA requirements.
Skills and Qualifications
- Electrical Journeyman Certification.
- Experience in the field with low- to medium-voltage underground work, power distribution, and utility interconnection.
- Ability to lift, pull, and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks.
- Must be willing and able to climb ladders and stairs, work in field conditions, and remain on your feet for extended periods.
- Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others and in a team environment.
- Basic ability to work with and communicate through computer-based systems and Microsoft products preferred.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
Work Conditions
This position requires performing physically demanding work in outdoor environments and under varying weather conditions. Employees must be able to safely perform assigned duties while complying with all company safety policies and procedures.
Work conditions may include:
- Exposure to temperatures exceeding 100°F and below 32°F.
- Working in adverse weather conditions, including rain, snow, wind, dust, and direct sunlight.
- Exposure to uneven terrain, mud, dirt, noise, and other construction site conditions.
- Working at heights, in confined spaces, or around heavy equipment when required.
- Extended periods of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working on uneven surfaces.
- Required use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, high-visibility clothing, gloves, steel-toe boots, fall protection, hearing protection, and any other equipment required for the task.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, or extended shifts as needed to meet project schedules and deadlines.
Physical Requirements
To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, employees must be able to:
- Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly, and greater weights with assistance or mechanical lifting devices.
- Frequently bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb ladders, and reach overhead.
- Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Perform repetitive motions involving the hands, arms, and shoulders.
- Maintain balance and coordination while working on uneven or elevated surfaces.
- Demonstrate sufficient visual acuity, hearing, and manual dexterity to safely operate tools, equipment, and machinery.
- Safely perform all essential job functions while wearing required PPE.
Supervisory Controls
The Certified Journeyman Electrician will report to the Electrical General Superintendent and Electrical Division Manager.
Certified Journeyman Electricians are expected to work approximately 40–45 hours per week, with core hours being Monday through Friday, 5:00 AM–1:30 PM, and must be available to support non-standard overtime hours as necessary.
Evaluation Factors
Electricians will primarily be evaluated based on their ability to successfully complete electrical work safely, on time, and to the standards expected under applicable electrical codes and project specifications.
Pay Scale
This contracted position is compensated is $60.00-$75.00 per hour
