Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using proper patient transfer methods and manual handling techniques.
- Provide patient care including medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and managing care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Support clients with meal preparation, ensuring nutritional requirements are met while maintaining safety standards like HIPAA compliance.
- Observe and document patient conditions through patient observation and patient monitoring to detect changes or concerns promptly.
- Help with light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe living environment.
- Support clients during outings or appointments by providing personal transportation assistance and ensuring their safety at all times.
- Communicate effectively with clients and their families to update on health status and care progress, fostering trust and transparency.
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, hospice care, and caring for individuals with neurodevelopmental or developmental disabilities enhances your ability to provide specialized support.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs measurement (such as blood pressure and pulse), medication administration, CPR/First Aid certification is essential.
- Experience working with individuals with autism or intellectual disabilities supports a comprehensive caregiving approach.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using proper patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Strong understanding of home & community care practices including assisting with ADLs and personal care assistance.
- Demonstrated ability to follow care plans meticulously while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
