CONTRACT REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL LAND SURVEYOR (RPLS)
Job Description Summary:
The Contract Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) at GCP Technologies operates on a project-by-project basis. In this role, the Contract RPLS will provide survey oversight, review and certify route, boundary, and construction projects, and apply the final signature and seal on all official survey deliverables. They ensure full regulatory compliance while working independently. This role goes beyond traditional plan review, as the Contract RPLS is someone who can also help identify and develop new business opportunities, leveraging industry relationships and technical credibility to expand our client base.
Essential Functions:
- Survey Oversight: Provide oversight on field data collection, GPS positioning, and existing conditions documentation.
- Survey Certification: Responsible for overseeing, reviewing, approving, and certifying project deliverables in accordance with applicable surveying standards.
- Document Authentication: Review, sign, and seal all final route, boundary, and construction staking surveys.
- Independent QA/QC: Perform rigorous quality assurance on all self-produced or client-provided field data.
- Regulatory Alignment: Guarantee every deliverable complies with standards of local municipalities and Texas state law.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- License: Active Texas RPLS license in good standing with a verifiable registration number.
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive land surveying experience in telecommunications utility or civil engineering, including familiarity with outside plant design, permitting processes, and construction documentation.
- Technical Expertise: Proven experience handling utility relocation projects in dense and rural Texas markets.
- Software/Tech Skills: Proficiency with drafting and data processing tools such as AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation, and Trimble Business Center.
- Insurance: Valid Professional Liability (Errors & Omissions) and General Liability insurance policies.
- Strong Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Comfortable with engaging clients and partners on the company’s behalf.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong industry relationships and a record of business development & client relations.
