Job Overview
Salon EFX is hiring an experienced Bridal Hair and Makeup Artist to join our Bridal & Special Events team.
This position is ideal for a licensed beauty professional who is confident creating updos, formal hairstyles, and professional makeup looks for weddings, bridal parties, photoshoots, proms, galas, and other special events.
The right candidate must be comfortable working both inside the salon and at off-site venues throughout the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Northern Virginia area. Weekend and early-morning availability is essential because most weddings and formal events take place during those times.
Responsibilities
- Create bridal updos, formal hairstyles, curls, waves, and other event-ready looks
- Apply professional makeup for brides, wedding parties, photoshoots, and special events
- Conduct bridal hair and makeup trials
- Travel to hotels, wedding venues, homes, and other off-site locations
- Follow event timelines and complete services efficiently
- Work cooperatively with other stylists and makeup artists during larger events
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized professional kit
- Communicate clearly with brides, event coordinators, and salon management
- Recommend looks based on the client’s features, attire, preferences, and event
- Take professional-quality photos or videos of completed work when appropriate
- Represent Salon EFX professionally while working on location
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience creating bridal updos and formal hairstyles
- Professional makeup application experience
- Portfolio showing bridal, formal hair, and makeup work
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to off-site events
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and occasional holidays
- Excellent time-management and customer-service skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in fast-paced wedding environments
- Dependable, punctual, organized, and responsive
- Appropriate Maryland cosmetology or makeup credentials for the services performed
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working weddings or large bridal parties
- Experience applying strip lashes and individual lashes
- Experience working with different hair textures and skin tones
- Airbrush makeup experience
- Experience installing or styling clip-in hair extensions
- Existing professional hair and makeup kit
- Availability to assist with consultations and bridal trials at Salon EFX
Schedule
This is a flexible, event-based position. Work may include:
- Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays
- Early-morning wedding start times
- Bridal trials scheduled during regular salon hours
- Occasional weekday events
- Local travel throughout the DMV area
Applicants must be able to commit to accepted events and arrive on time. Reliability is essential because wedding appointments cannot be rescheduled at the last minute.
Compensation
- Commission-based compensation
- Additional earnings may be available for travel, early start times, touch-ups, and extended event coverage
