Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise across various specialties, including critical care, emergency medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics, and outpatient services. This role involves providing comprehensive patient care, performing assessments, administering treatments, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment. Experience with advanced EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, and eClinicalWorks is preferred. The RN will play a vital role in ensuring high-quality care aligned with HIPAA standards and best practices in infection control and aseptic technique.
Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations.
- Administer medications and injections accurately while adhering to sterile techniques and safety protocols.
- Manage airway support including ventilator management and oxygen therapy.
- Perform specialized procedures such as IV insertion, phlebotomy, catheterization (including Foley and urinary catheters), suturing, and ostomy care.
- Provide acute pain management, wound care, and post-operative discharge planning.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing, sonography, mammography, and medical imaging procedures like spinal taps or gastric lavage.
- Document patient care accurately within EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Collaborate with physicians in various departments including ICU, trauma centers (Level I & II), neonatal intensive care units (NICU), PICU, surgical units, outpatient clinics, hospice & palliative medicine settings, and home & community care environments.
- Educate patients and families on health coaching, medication administration, nutrition, disease management (including infectious disease care), and discharge instructions.
- Ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed to prevent cross-contamination.
Qualifications
- Valid RN license with current registration in the state of practice.
- Proven experience in multiple clinical settings such as hospital medicine (including ICU or emergency room), outpatient clinics, long-term care facilities (including nursing homes or assisted living), or home health environments.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Experience administering injections (including IV infusions), managing ventilators or respiratory support devices is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform complex procedures such as spinal taps or gastrostomy tube feeding with precision.
- Critical care experience preferred; familiarity with trauma medicine at Level I & II trauma centers is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills for working with diverse populations including children (neonatal/infant care) and individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia.
