About the Job
A warm, busy family in High Point is looking for a dependable and highly organized Part-Time Nanny & Family Assistant to support their four children and help keep their afternoons running smoothly.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with school-aged children and also loves bringing organization to a busy household. The family is looking for someone who is caring and engaged with the children, confident with routines and expectations, and proactive when it comes to household needs.
One child has ADHD, and another has a peanut allergy, so attentiveness, patience, and a strong commitment to safety are important.
Occasional additional hours or overnight care may be requested with as much advance notice as possible.
What Your Afternoons Will Look Like
The day begins around 3:00 p.m. with school pickup. Once everyone is home, you’ll help the children settle in, grab a snack, and have some time to decompress before transitioning into homework and their evening routine.
Throughout the afternoon, you’ll help:
- Keep the children on track with their routines and responsibilities
- Prepare snacks and help them get lunches ready for the next day
- Support homework and encourage age-appropriate independence
- Provide transportation to school, activities, outings, and other scheduled destinations
- Offer guidance and problem-solving support when needed
- Maintain a positive, structured, and comfortable environment
- Communicate with parents about the children and the day
Mom typically returns home around 5:30 p.m. and joins the evening routine as dinner preparation begins.
Family Assistant Responsibilities
This role also includes hands-on household support. The family would love someone who naturally notices what needs attention and is comfortable taking initiative.
Responsibilities may include:
- Loading and unloading the dishwasher
- Keeping the kitchen and downstairs common areas tidy
- Wiping counters, sweeping, and light vacuuming
- Straightening bathrooms and picking up items throughout common spaces
- Helping with the youngest child’s laundry, towels, linens, and bed
- Organizing children’s bedrooms, closets, drawers, and play areas
- Helping the children prepare lunches and snacks for the following day
- Keeping an eye on household supplies and noting when items are running low
- Preparing Instacart orders for groceries and pet supplies
- Bringing in packages
- Laying out clean sheets before the weekly cleaning service
- Helping the older children stay accountable for their household responsibilities
- Assisting with trash and recycling as needed
Light Pet Care
The family has cats, so candidates should be comfortable with pets. Light responsibilities may include feeding the cats, refreshing their water, letting them in and out, and occasionally transporting them to veterinary appointments.
