American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a General Surgery Operating Room position requiring 2 years of general, GYN, and urology surgical experience with call and weekend rotation.

Acute care hospital setting in the General Surgery Operating Room, part of a 28-suite surgical department with 14 dedicated general surgery suites

Average of 20-40 general surgery cases per day
-
Common procedures include lap chole, lap colon, lap appy, cysto, DaVinci robotic cases, hysterectomy, vascular, ENT, and urology cases

Works alongside surgical technologists in the OR, with a charge nurse who assists with cases
-
Uses EPIC OP Time EMR
-
10-hour day shifts (7-1730 or 1230-2300) totaling 36-40 hours per week based on contract
-
Block scheduling determined by facility need, no self-scheduling
-
Call rotation of 1 shift per week with call hours varying (1530-2300, 1730-2300, 1930-2300, or 2300-0700)
-
Call response time of 30 minutes required
-
Sleep policy provides 8 hours off if working more than 4 hours past 2300 during call

Weekend rotation of every other or every third weekend, including a full weekend of hours plus an assigned call shift

Floating required to other surgery teams or SPD if qualified

Active IL RN license required, or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
-
BLS (AHA) certification required

Minimum 2 years of general surgery, GYN, and urology experience required
-
ENT experience also required
-
EPIC EMR experience required
-
Experience in similarly sized facilities and ORs within the last 2 years preferred
-
Must be able to pass a negative drug screen for all panels
-
Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced general surgery OR handling a high volume of daily cases
-
Facility provides hospital scrubs
-
Unit-specific orientation of up to one week, plus hospital-wide orientation
-
12 hours of non-billable orientation required, separate from guaranteed hours
-
Local candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are eligible for a local pay rate
-
Facility operates as a Drug-Free Campus with mandatory drug screening for all panels
-
COVID vaccination is not required for this facility
