WCYB is looking for a motivated and dependable Production Assistant to join our team and help bring our newscasts to life. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in gaining hands-on experience in television news and learning multiple aspects of live production.
As a Production Assistant, you'll work closely with our news and production teams to prepare and execute daily newscasts across broadcast and digital platforms.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist with the preparation and production of morning, evening, and weekend newscasts
- Operate studio equipment, including cameras, audio, and graphics systems
- Prepare and manage on-air graphics and fonts for newscasts
- Assist with studio, set, and lighting preparation
- Maintain a clean, organized, and broadcast-ready studio
- Assist with guest coordination and studio needs
- Edit video for newscasts, web stories, and other digital platforms
- Write and prepare stories for daily newscasts and digital platforms
- Conduct research and gather information for news stories
- Assist with video and tape editing as needed
- Support the production team during live broadcasts
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- No previous television experience is required; training will be provided
- Education, coursework, or internship experience in television, broadcasting, communications, media production, or a related field is preferred
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Willingness to learn multiple production roles and work as part of a team
- Dependable, organized, and able to adapt quickly during live productions
- Ability to lift and carry 25–50 pounds on a regular basis
Flexibility to work varying schedules, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

The base hourly compensation range for this role is $16.50 to $18.77 . Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates' relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, sick leave, vacation time, personal time, parental leave and employee stock purchase plan.
