Annual Incentive Bonus: 17.5% – 26.25%

Job Description
Overview
The Director of Emergency Services provides strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for a high-volume emergency department within a large acute care environment. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, patient-centered emergency care while driving quality outcomes, workforce engagement, financial performance, and service growth. The Director partners closely with physicians and senior leadership to advance emergency services as a key access point for the organization.
Responsibilities
Quality & Clinical Excellence
Lead evidence-based emergency nursing practice to achieve superior patient safety, quality outcomes, and regulatory compliance.
Standardize clinical practices to reduce variation, improve throughput, and optimize cost-effectiveness.
Oversee patient flow, volume forecasting, and admission/discharge coordination to ensure timely, high-quality care.
Ensure compliance with all applicable accreditation, legal, and regulatory standards.
Direct emergency department operations, nursing standards, policies, and procedures.
Patient Experience
Drive a consistently exceptional patient experience across all emergency services.
Analyze patient feedback and performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
Implement strategic initiatives that elevate satisfaction, communication, and care delivery.
People Leadership
Build and sustain a culture of accountability, collaboration, and engagement.
Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing emergency services leadership and staff.
Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance management to leaders and frontline teams.
Growth & Service Development
Collaborate with physicians and administrative leaders to expand and enhance emergency services.
Identify opportunities for program growth, innovation, and service differentiation.
Support trauma, chest pain, and emergency care program advancement.
Financial Stewardship
Lead departmental budgeting, forecasting, and expense management.
Ensure effective labor utilization, staffing models, and productivity management.
Identify cost-reduction opportunities while maintaining clinical excellence.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN)
Active RN license (state-specific or compact, as applicable)
Minimum of 1 year of emergency services leadership experience
Demonstrated experience managing high-volume emergency departments
Preferred
Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field
3+ years of progressive emergency services leadership experience
Experience in trauma-designated or accredited emergency departments
