Overview
The Vanguard Hotel in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking a friendly and professional Part-Time Host to join our dynamic hospitality team. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for guests, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere and smooth dining or check-in experience. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop guest relations skills within a vibrant hotel environment, supporting our commitment to exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival and assist with seating arrangements
- Manage guest waitlists and provide accurate wait time estimates
- Handle guest inquiries via phone and in person with professionalism and courtesy
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host station area
- Coordinate with restaurant staff and front desk team to ensure seamless guest experiences
- Utilize POS systems such as Aloha POS, Micros POS, or similar platforms for reservations and check-ins
- Communicate effectively with guests regarding hotel amenities, services, and policies
- Uphold high standards of phone etiquette and guest relations at all times
Requirements
- Prior host/host experience preferred, especially within food service or hospitality settings
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor
- Experience with restaurant POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS is a plus
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Knowledge of guest services, hotel operations, and serving protocols is desirable
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Professional appearance and positive attitude required
- Previous experience in hospitality or hotel environments is advantageous
