Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Social Services Assistant to join our dedicated team. Responsibilities
- Assist clients in identifying and accessing social services, including Medicaid, housing support, and community programs
- Conduct crisis intervention and crisis management to stabilize clients during urgent situations
- Provide addiction counseling support and behavioral health guidance to promote recovery and well-being
- Engage in motivational interviewing techniques to motivate clients toward positive change
- Support working with seniors and geriatric patients by addressing their unique needs and coordinating appropriate services
- Maintain accurate case management records, write detailed reports, and document client interactions clearly
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop personalized care plans and coordinate resources effectively
- Facilitate client communication through active listening, mentoring, and culturally sensitive approaches
- Conduct first aid and CPR when necessary to ensure immediate safety during emergencies
- Identify community resources for clients dealing with disabilities or child welfare concerns
- Work with culturally diverse communities to ensure inclusive service delivery and foster trust
Experience
- Proven experience working in social services or related fields such as social work, workforce development, or community outreach
- Demonstrated ability in crisis intervention, crisis management, and behavioral health support
- Experience working with seniors, individuals with disabilities, or in child welfare settings is highly desirable
- Knowledge of Medicaid policies, resource identification in social services, and working with geriatric populations
- Strong writing skills for documentation, case notes, and client reports
- Bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities effectively
- Familiarity with social service programs, client communication strategies, and mentoring techniques is preferred
