Position: Telecommunications Service Technician / Installer
As a Telecommunications Service Technician / Installer, you will play a key role in delivering and supporting telecommunication services for our clients. You will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining a variety of systems while providing outstanding customer service on-site.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and configure telecommunication systems, including network equipment, cabling, and low-voltage wiring in residential and commercial environments
- Perform site surveys to assess installation requirements, verify existing infrastructure, and plan efficient cable routes
- Use a variety of hand and power tools (e.g., punch-down tools, crimpers, testers, drills) to complete clean, safe, and professional installations
- Test, troubleshoot, and validate installed systems to ensure full functionality, proper connectivity, and adherence to specifications
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to network performance, wiring faults, hardware failures, and configuration errors
- Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers, explaining system operation, basic maintenance, and best practices in clear, non-technical language
- Document work performed, including installation notes, test results, equipment used, and any changes made to existing systems
- Collaborate with project managers and team members to plan and coordinate installation schedules, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within scope
- Follow all safety protocols and industry standards related to low-voltage work, ladder use, and tool handling
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, must have a pick up truck or utility van. RLC will provide inventory of tools and materials
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous experience as a Service Technician, Installer, or similar role in the telecommunications or low-voltage industry (strongly preferred)
- Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical principles as they apply to low-voltage and telecom systems
- Proficiency in computer networking, including basic IP addressing, routing, and configuration of network devices (routers, switches, access points)
- Familiarity with telephone systems, VoIP equipment, and related hardware
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, wiring schematics, and installation plans
- Skilled in the safe and effective use of hand tools and basic power tools
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for identifying root causes and implementing practical solutions
- High attention to detail to ensure accurate terminations, labeling, and system configuration
- Ability to work independently in the field as well as collaboratively within a small team
- Clear and professional communication skills for interacting with customers, explaining technical concepts, and documenting work
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license, if field work and travel between sites are required
- Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver equipment and materials as needed, and to work on ladders or in tight spaces when required

Pay: $600.00 - $2,000.00 per week
