Job Summary
Join our dynamic dermatology practice as a Dermatology Medical Assistant, a vital role designed for pre-medical or pre-Physician Assistant (Pre-PA) students seeking hands-on clinical experience. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with experienced dermatologists and healthcare professionals, gaining comprehensive exposure to outpatient dermatological care, patient interactions, and medical procedures. Duties
- Assist dermatologists with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and documenting chief complaints accurately in electronic health records (EHR systems).
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures, ensuring comfort, and maintaining confidentiality throughout the process.
- Support clinical procedures including skin biopsies, cryotherapy, skin excisions, and MOHS surgery .
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for use while adhering to infection control standards.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient clinic flow, including assisting with patient education on skincare routines and medication instructions.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed pre-medical or pre-Physician Assistant (Pre-PA) coursework or program.
- Prior experience or familiarity with dermatology clinics or any other outpatient healthcare settings
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases). Previous MA experience a plus
- Strong patient service skills with a compassionate approach to patient care; excellent communication abilities are essential.
- Demonstrated organizational skills for managing medical office tasks effectively while maintaining attention to detail in documentation and record keeping.
