POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Director of Development, the Development Associate supports donor stewardship strategies, while managing the day-to-day operations of appeals, events, and fundraising activities. This role blends donor relationships with strong administrative and coordination skills to ensure the smooth execution of campaigns and overall fundraising goals.
FUNDAMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Promote the mission of Catholic Charities through a commitment to its core values of compassion, service, justice, respect, integrity, teamwork and excellence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative & Operational Support
- Schedule donor meetings, cultivation visits, and development team activities.
- Prepare reports, presentations, correspondence, and meeting materials.
- Assist with budget tracking, expense reconciliation, and invoice processing.
- Monitor campaign elements and deadlines, including coordination with vendors, printers, and mail houses for timely execution of direct mail, digital campaigns, and events.
- Oversee and maintain accurate donor records in Donor Perfect Database, ensuring data integrity.
- Track incoming donations and ensure acknowledgment is completed promptly.
- Monitor campaign performance and prepare reports on fundraising outcomes.
Event Support
- Support the planning and execution of fundraising events, donor cultivation gatherings, volunteer recognition events, and community outreach activities.
- Coordinate event logistics, including contracts, registration, invitations, sponsorship fulfillment, and event materials.
- Manage guest lists, RSVPs, seating arrangements, and event communications.
- Serve as a point of contact for vendors, sponsors, donors, and event attendees.
- Assist with day-of-event management, setup, registration, and event operations.
- Assist with post-event follow-up, including acknowledgments, evaluations, and reporting on event outcomes and donor engagement.
Donor Relationship Support
- Assist in implementing personalized outreach strategies to strengthen donor relationships.
- Monitor donor milestones (e.g., anniversaries, giving history, event participation) for follow-up opportunities.
- Track, analyze, and identify patterns, engagement behavior, and retention trends.
Support special projects and other activities as assigned by Development Director.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND KNOWLEDGE:
- A.A degree in business administration, project management, or related field from an accredited educational institution, or a combination of equivalent education and work experience.
- Bilingual and Bi-literate in English and Spanish (preferred)
- Strong understanding of donor engagement and giving patterns.
- Ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment when engaging directly with donors, especially in sensitive or high-stakes conversations.
- Experience in event coordination and/or fundraising support.
- Excellent written, oral, and electronic communication skills
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Donor Perfect highly desirable.
- Ability to communicate professionally with compassion and empathy. Demonstrate welcoming and friendly demeanor; appreciative and respectful of all cultures and beliefs.
- Strong organizational, time management, teamwork, and networking skills.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to pivot priorities in a dynamic nonprofit environment.
- Must be comfortable with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to travel to the four counties of our service area to support in outreach and fundraising activities.
- Ability to work occasional evenings/weekends for events.
- Knowledge of the Principles of Catholic Social Teachings and the ability to link them to practical actions
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Clearance of fingerprint background check is required.
- Ability to stand and be active for 2-3 hours at a time.
- Occasionally lift or move up to 25+ lbs.
LICENSE, CERTIFICATIONS, REGISTRATIONS:
- Must provide a Valid California Driver’s License, transportation and current auto insurance.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Comfortable office environment
- Some travel to other locations for meetings, trainings, etc.

HOURS AND OTHER CONDITIONS:
This is an non-exempt position with a full-range of employee benefits. Salary commensurate to experience –$24-$28 hourly.
