Kindle Trucking School is seeking an experienced and dedicated Diesel Technician Instructor to join our team in Houston, Texas. The ideal candidate will provide classroom instruction and hands-on shop training that prepares students for entry-level careers in diesel technology.
Responsibilities
- Deliver classroom and hands-on instruction using the approved diesel technician curriculum.
- Teach diesel engines, preventive maintenance, brakes, steering and suspension, electrical systems, diagnostics, and truck and trailer maintenance.
- Demonstrate the safe and proper use of tools, lifts, diagnostic equipment, and personal protective equipment.
- Supervise students during laboratory and shop activities.
- Prepare lesson plans, assignments, examinations, and practical skills assessments.
- Maintain accurate attendance, grades, student progress, and competency records.
- Provide additional instruction and support to students when needed.
- Enforce classroom, shop, attendance, conduct, and safety policies.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe training environment.
- Prepare students for entry-level employment and ASE-aligned assessments.
- Participate in faculty meetings, orientations, professional development, and school events.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on diesel mechanic experience (heavy-duty trucks preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, and diagnostics
- Ability to clearly explain technical concepts to adult learners
- Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills
Preferred
- ASE Certifications required
- Prior teaching, mentoring, or instructor experience
- Experience working with CDL drivers or trucking fleets
- Familiarity with DOT, FMCSA, and shop safety regulations
