Guiding Solutions Counseling is seeking a compassionate, outcomes-driven mental health professional to provide client-centered care as an independent contractor. This role is ideal for clinicians who value flexibility, autonomy, and a collaborative support team.
About the Role
- Engagement: 1099 independent contractor (not an employee)
- Schedule: Flexible hours; you set your availability
- Location: Hybrid or remote options (telehealth); in-person availability a plus depending on your locale
- Client Population: Adults, adolescents, couples, and/or families based on your competencies
- Pay is split percentage: how much you earn depends on the amount of clients you see
- Start Date: August 3, 2026
What You’ll Do
- Provide evidence-based psychotherapy and/or counseling via telehealth and/or in-person sessions
- Conduct intake assessments, develop treatment plans, and maintain timely clinical documentation
- Coordinate care and make referrals when appropriate
- Uphold ethical and professional standards, confidentiality, and compliance with applicable laws (HIPAA, state licensing rules)
- Participate in case consultation or team meetings (as available and applicable to contractor status)
Qualifications
- Licensure: Active, unrestricted clinical license in the state of Illinois (e.g., LCSW, LMFT, LCPC, or equivalent).
- Experience: 1–3+ years of direct clinical work preferred; new licensees welcome with strong training background
- Competencies: Proficiency in modalities such as CBT, DBT-informed care, ACT, EMDR, trauma-informed approaches, solution-focused therapy, or couples/family systems
- Tools: Comfortable using EHR/telehealth platforms; reliable internet and private, HIPAA-compliant workspace for remote sessions
- Clearances: professional liability insurance (required)
Terms
- Status: Independent contractor (1099). You manage your taxes and business expenses.
- Caseload: You control your caseload; minimum weekly client hours can be discussed if relevant.
- Benefits: As a contractor, traditional employee benefits are not provided. We may offer practice supports such as referrals, EHR access, billing/credentialing assistance, administrative support, and consultation opportunities.

- Carry and maintain professional liability insurance.
- Follow all payer documentation and billing requirements if seeing insured clients.
