Founded in 1963 by Nobuyoshi Kuraoka, Restaurant Nippon is celebrated as New York City's first authentic Japanese restaurant. Our mission has always been to share genuine Japanese cuisine with the vibrant dining scene of the city.
Wako Inflight Service, Inc. is a subsidiary of Restaurant Nippon. We have catered the Japanese inflight meals for all Japan Airlines flights originating from NYC since shortly after our founding – a status unique today given the preponderance of dedicated inflight catering facilities throughout the world.
About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Helper to join our team at our kitchen team. The Kitchen Helper will support the chefs and kitchen staff in preparing ingredients, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to gain hands-on experience in a professional kitchen.
Responsibilities
- Cook and prepare dishes according to recipes and standards
- Keep work area clean, safe, and organized
- Assist team members during busy service hours
- Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries
- Ensure all ingredients and supplies are properly stocked and organized
Qualifications
- Previous kitchen or restaurant experience preferred but not required (training will be provided)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow instructions carefully
- Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and teamwork
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs
