You start your shift by checking the CMMS, reviewing yesterday’s work orders, and prioritizing today’s preventive tasks. A production cell is down—within minutes you’re observing the equipment in motion, tracing symptoms to the root cause. You open up the assembly, remove worn components, adjust control instrumentation, and install new parts. After reassembly, you run electrical and mechanical tests to validate performance and return the line to peak condition.
Later, you capture predictive maintenance data and log trends in the system. A teammate needs a custom bushing—so you head to the lathe to machine it and finish the repair, welding a minor bracket for good measure. Between calls, you tidy your area to 5S standards, suggest a small change that reduces repeat failures, and mentor a junior tech through a complex troubleshooting sequence. Before clocking out, you update records in the CMMS and note opportunities for a CI project.

Execute advanced break-fix and preventive maintenance on industrial machinery.

Diagnose faults by observing equipment in operation, then disassemble, repair/replace components, adjust instruments, and validate with functional tests.

Conduct electrical and mechanical checks, including circuitry verification and system-level testing; recondition machine tools when needed.

Source parts, supplies, and repair items; operate lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other metalworking tools to fabricate/repair components; perform welding as required.

Maintain 5S standards and help drive continuous improvement to enhance processes, outcomes, and cost savings.

Document work thoroughly and review asset history in the CMMS.

Troubleshoot control systems to resolve software, hardware, and configuration issues.

Use predictive maintenance techniques to gather and analyze equipment performance data.

Support and guide less-experienced technicians; provide leadership to small teams as needed.

Follow all safety policies and procedures with strong situational awareness.

High school diploma or GED.

Associate degree with a technical concentration and 3+ years of related industrial experience; or 5+ years in industry; or completion of the ATS Technician Progression Program.

Solid knowledge of electrical, mechanical, fluid power, and control systems; proven troubleshooting and repair capability.

Proficient with standard hand tools and applicable specialty tools.

Willingness to travel, if required.
This role regularly involves standing and walking, using hands and fingers to handle parts and tools, reaching with arms, and climbing or balancing—sometimes using ladders or lifts. You’ll also stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in tight spaces, and communicate clearly. Sitting occurs occasionally. You may occasionally lift or move items over 50 pounds. Close and color vision are regularly needed. Work may sometimes occur outdoors and can involve exposure to electrical hazards. The factory setting is typically very loud, with potential exposure to hazardous materials and slick or greasy floors.
