SCOPE OF WORK: The Adult Intake Counselor is responsible for providing intake, screening, assessment, referral, and admission services for adults seeking substance use disorder treatment. The Adult Intake Counselor serves as the initial point of contact for clients entering treatment and is responsible for conducting comprehensive substance use disorder evaluations, determining eligibility for services, facilitating admissions, coordinating referrals, and maintaining accurate clinical documentation in accordance with the Treatment Program's Policies and Procedures Manual, DSM-5, ASAM Criteria, and applicable tribal, state, and federal regulations.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct substance use disorder screenings, assessments, and evaluations in accordance with program policies and procedures.
- Complete comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, substance use histories, and intake interviews.
- Utilize DSM-5 and ASAM Criteria to assist in determining appropriate levels of care and treatment recommendations.
- Coordinate and facilitate the admission process for eligible clients.
- Develop preliminary treatment recommendations based on assessment findings.
- Coordinate referrals to inpatient, outpatient, aftercare, mental health, medical, housing, employment, educational, legal, social service, and community resources.
- Provide crisis intervention and immediate support for clients presenting with urgent behavioral health or substance use concerns.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely client records in accordance with program requirements and professional standards.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, staffing, case reviews, and treatment planning discussions.

SHIFT: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
TESTING AND BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:
Subject to pre-employment, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing.
Tribal, State, and Federal background investigation and MVR screening required.
HIRING PREFERENCES:
Qualified applicants who are enrolled members of a federally recognized Tribe will receive Native American preference.
Qualified applicants will receive Veteran’s Preference with submission of proof of honorable military service (e.g., DD-214).
