DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position delivers direct nursing care to support the physical and mental health of individuals within the State Correctional Institution at Fayette. As a Registered Nurse, you will perform the following duties:
- Treatment Delivery: Administer medications, treatments, tests, and emergency care in accordance with clinical direction
- Health Assessment: Evaluate patient conditions, monitor changes, and assist with examinations and specialty clinics
- Daily Support: Help individuals with activities of daily living to ensure their basic care needs are met
- Record Management: Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and medication records to support continuity of care
- Safety Compliance: Follow infection control procedures, correctional policies, and quality service standards
- Team Communication: Share important information during shift reports and collaborate with custody and medical staff

Work Hours and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40-hour work week.
- The Department of Corrections is staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
- 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM
- Alternative work schedules may be available based on operational needs.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Please Note: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $88,130.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Necessary Special Requirements:
- This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
- All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
