***This is a part-time contract role. We are a mission-driven nonprofit and we are transparent about what we offer. We invest in reliable, talented people and provide real creative ownership within our work.
ABOUT VOICES OF TOMORROW
Voices of Tomorrow is Washington State’s largest statewide organization supporting immigrant and refugee childcare providers. Our programs span early childhood education, behavioral health, and family support, and the communities we serve are primarily East African.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We have a brand. It has good bones. What we need is someone to execute it with care and consistency.
This is a design execution role. You will work inside an established visual identity and produce materials across print and digital that look like they belong together, reflect our community accurately, and hold up to scrutiny. The Marketing Lead provides direction and briefs. You handle production.
This is not a build-from-scratch role. If you are excellent at execution, detail-oriented, reliable, and care about the communities you design for, this is the work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Marketing Lead, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Brand and Visual Design
- Design and produce brand-aligned collateral across print and digital: event flyers, program brochures, social media graphics, carousels, impact reports, and recruitment materials.
- Develop multilingual assets in English, Somali, Amharic, and Swahili for community-facing programs and communications.
- Translate program data, outcomes, and community stories into accessible, visually clear formats tailored to families, providers, and funders.
- Maintain and apply VOT brand standards consistently across all materials, including typography, color, and layout systems.
- Build and maintain scalable design templates that internal teams can use independently for consistent output.
- Support grant-facing and stakeholder materials as needed, ensuring visual alignment with funder expectations.
2. Digital Content Support
- Format and resize visual assets for platform-specific requirements across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
- Assist with Mailchimp email design and layout as needed.
- Organize and maintain digital asset libraries including photography, graphics, and design files for easy retrieval and future use.
- Communicate proactively about timelines, revision cycles, and any production risks or delays.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to perform each responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
Required
- 3 or more years of graphic design experience producing community-facing or client-facing work.
- A strong portfolio is required. We read every portfolio carefully. Applications without one will not be reviewed.
- Demonstrated strength in typography, layout, and brand consistency.
- Proficiency in Canva and Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
- Experience working within an established brand system rather than building from scratch.
- Reliable, communicative, and able to manage multiple projects with overlapping deadlines.
- Based in the Americas for timezone alignment.
Preferred
- Experience designing for immigrant, refugee, or multilingual communities.
- Familiarity with multilingual layout including non-Latin or right-to-left scripts.
- Background in nonprofit, early learning, or community-based organizations.
- Cultural awareness reflected in your portfolio, not just listed in your resume.
- Experience with social media analytics reporting and translating performance data into design decisions.
- Familiarity with email marketing platforms (Mailchimp or similar) beyond layout, including campaign setup and basic performance tracking.
- Experience designing annual reports or impact reports with narrative layout and data visualization.
- Experience with website content updates (CMS-based), basic SEO practices, or SEO-informed blog content. Candidates with this background may be considered for an expanded part-time consulting scope.
