Opportunities may include day, evening, night, weekend, on-call, and rotating schedules depending on the facility and assignment.
Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities will vary by modality and facility but may include:
- Performing diagnostic imaging examinations according to physician orders
- Preparing and positioning patients for imaging procedures
- Operating imaging equipment safely and accurately
- Reviewing images for quality, accuracy, and proper positioning
- Following radiation safety and infection prevention requirements
- Verifying patient identity, procedure information, and relevant clinical history
- Explaining procedures and providing compassionate patient care
- Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Communicating significant findings according to facility protocols
- Collaborating with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
- Maintaining imaging equipment and reporting operational or safety concerns
- Following facility policies, professional standards, and applicable regulatory requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited radiologic technology, sonography, or diagnostic imaging program
- Active professional certification applicable to the candidate’s imaging modality
- Current state license when required by the assignment location
- Current Basic Life Support certification
- At least one year of recent experience in the applicable imaging modality preferred
- Ability to complete required background checks, drug screening, health requirements, and credentialing
- Strong patient care, communication, and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team
Applicable certifications may include:
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification
- American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography certification
- Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board certification
- Cardiovascular Credentialing International certification
- Additional modality-specific certifications
Candidates holding multiple certifications or licenses in multiple states are encouraged to apply.
Compensation
Compensation generally ranges from $50.00 to $80.00 per hour.
Actual compensation will vary based on the assignment, imaging modality, specialty, location, schedule, experience, certification requirements, and local market conditions. Additional assignment-specific compensation, travel reimbursements, or stipends may be available and will be discussed before the candidate accepts an assignment.
