We are seeking a hands-on Senior Electrical Engineer to support the design, development, and improvement of complex automation equipment and electrical systems.
Position Summary
The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead electrical design activities for semiconductor automation equipment, including robotics, motion control systems, machine integration, and industrial control panels. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, system-level thinking, and experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate is technically strong, detail-oriented, and comfortable working cross-functionally with mechanical engineering, software engineering, manufacturing, and field service teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical systems for semiconductor automation equipment and robotics
- Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and BOMs
- Select and integrate components including PLCs, servo drives, sensors, safety circuits, HMIs, and motion controllers
- Support machine startups, debugging, testing, and validation
- Troubleshoot electrical and controls-related issues in manufacturing and field environments
- Work closely with software and mechanical engineering teams during system integration
- Ensure compliance with UL, CE, SEMI, and safety standards
- Support engineering documentation, ECOs, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership
- Participate in customer support and occasional onsite troubleshooting when needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 7+ years of electrical engineering experience in semiconductor equipment, robotics, automation, or manufacturing
- Strong experience with:
- PLC systems and industrial automation
- Motion control and servo systems
- Electrical schematic design
- Control panel design
- Industrial communication protocols
- Experience using AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar tools
- Knowledge of SEMI standards and semiconductor manufacturing equipment preferred
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work onsite in Fremont, CA
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with wafer handling systems, EFEMs, robotics, or vacuum systems
- Experience supporting manufacturing builds and field installations
- Familiarity with SECS/GEM communication protocols
- Knowledge of safety systems and machine compliance standards
