Cobblestone Fruit is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Human Resources Coordinator to support our farming operations. This role is responsible for coordinating key HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee records management, benefits administration, and assisting with compliance tracking. The ideal candidate is approachable, highly organized, and committed to supporting both employees and leadership. The HR Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring HR processes run efficiently, align with company policies, and remain compliant with applicable employment laws.
Duties/Responsibilities
· Support recruiting efforts by reviewing applications, coordinating interviews, communicating with candidates, and assisting hiring managers throughout the process.
· Facilitate and lead new hire onboarding sessions, ensuring a smooth and compliant onboarding experience for all employees.
· Serve as a point of contact for general employee inquiries related to benefits, policies, timekeeping, and procedures, escalating more complex matters as needed.
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including documentation for hires, status changes, training, and terminations.
· Monitor timecards and support wage and hour compliance by reviewing entries, identifying discrepancies, and partnering with payroll and management to resolve issues.
· Assist with payroll processes by ensuring employee data is accurately entered and maintained within the HRIS platform.
· Provide support to employees and supervisors with timekeeping systems (e.g., UKG), including troubleshooting and guidance.
· Ensure compliance with company policies and employment laws by maintaining required documentation such as I-9s, training records, and labor law postings.
· Assist in tracking attendance, identifying trends, and preparing documentation for corrective actions in partnership with HR leadership.
· Support workplace safety and workers’ compensation processes to ensure IIPP compliance and proper HR support for the return-to-work modified duty program.
· Receive and respond to employee concerns, complaints, and workplace issues in a professional and confidential manner by gathering relevant information, conducting preliminary fact-finding, and partnering with senior HR leadership to determine appropriate next steps and support timely resolution.
· Participate in employee engagement initiatives, trainings, and programs that foster a positive and respectful workplace culture.
· Support audits, inspections, and compliance reporting by gathering and organizing required HR documentation.
· Contribute to HR projects and initiatives, including process improvements, system updates, and special projects as assigned.
· Maintain strict confidentiality of employee information and ensure compliance with all privacy and data protection standards.
· All other duties as assigned in support of the HR department and the current and future success of Cobblestone and related entities.
Qualifications/Requirements
· Alignment with Cobblestone Fruit’s mission, values, and commitment to a positive workplace culture.
· 1–3 years of experience in human resources, administrative support, or office coordination; experience in agriculture, food production, or manufacturing environments is a plus.
· Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
· Bilingual in English and Spanish required, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Working knowledge of California labor laws, including wage and hour compliance; ability to apply policies accurately and seek guidance when needed.
· Experience using HRIS systems (e.g., UKG or similar) for data entry, reporting, and employee record management preferred.
· Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
· Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to support employees and collaborate with supervisors on basic employee relations matters, including coaching and conflict resolution support.
· High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
· Self-motivated, adaptable, and solution-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.
Physical Demands & Abilities
· Ability to remain seated and work at a computer for extended periods, with frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and operating office equipment.
· Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach while performing job duties in office, warehouse, and field environments.
· Ability to safely lift, carry, push, or move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds using proper body mechanics and ergonomic techniques.
· Capability to travel between office, production, and agricultural field locations as needed, including navigating uneven terrain and varying environmental conditions.
· Ability to perform duties on-site in packinghouse and agricultural settings, which may include exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and outdoor elements.
· Visual acuity sufficient to read detailed documents, computer screens, and observe workplace conditions, employee activities, and equipment during inspections or investigations.
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
