Position Summary: Responsible for patient care, including evaluation and management of patients and long term management after initial evaluation or transfer from other providers. Provides clinical input on psychotherapy needs and out of home placement. Provides feedback and staffing on appropriate outpatient and inpatient level of care requirements.
Critical Tasks:
- Provides patient evaluation and management and assesses treatment needs. Manages patients with complex and chronic mental health and medical conditions.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and behavioral health care needs.
- Prescribes, monitors, and manages medications for individual patients in an appropriate and successful manner.
- Maintains a patient caseload and assists other providers with coverage as needed. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, including psychiatrists, clinical liaisons, peer support staff or nursing staff, to develop, implement, or evaluate treatment plans.
- Educates patients and family members about mental health and medical conditions, preventive health measures, medications, or treatment plans.
- Develops practice protocols for mental health problems, based on review and evaluation of published research.
- Refers patients requiring more specialized or complex treatment to psychiatrists, or other medical specialists.
- Develops, implements, or evaluates programs such as outreach activities, community mental health programs, and crisis situation response activities.
- Provides services in compliance with Intergovernmental Agreements and GRHC accreditation requirements.
- Performs other job-related activities as requested.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Nursing with Mental Health Specialty required.
- Arizona licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in good standing required.
- 6+ years of licensed nursing experience, including 3 years as a licensed Nurse Practitioner required.
- 1-2 years of work in mental health field after Mental Health specialty obtained preferred. Prior experience in a medical environment preferred.
