My client is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Environmental Project Manager to lead and coordinate complex environmental projects across water resources, wastewater treatment, stormwater systems, and environmental compliance initiatives. In this role, you will oversee project planning, execution, and regulatory permitting processes while ensuring adherence to environmental laws and standards. Environmental Project Manager Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, design, and management of environmental projects related to water treatment, wastewater systems, stormwater management, and remediation efforts.
- Coordinate project activities through all phases including conceptual design, permitting, construction oversight, and closeout.
- Utilize software such as SWMM (Storm Water Management Model), GIS (Geographic Information Systems), AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and HEC (Hydrologic Engineering Center) tools for modeling, drafting, and analysis.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure timely delivery of high-quality results.
- Prepare detailed reports for environmental permitting phases involving EPA regulations and local agencies; ensure compliance with all relevant environmental laws.
- Oversee data collection efforts including field surveys, geotechnical investigations, hydrological data analysis, and environmental sampling.
- Collaborate with clients and regulatory agencies on permitting processes and environmental law compliance to facilitate project approvals.
- Supervise multidisciplinary teams comprising civil engineers, environmental scientists, geotechnical specialists, and construction personnel.
- Conduct research on emerging environmental technologies and best practices in wastewater treatment plant operations and manufacturing-related water systems.
- Ensure projects meet safety standards and environmental regulations while maintaining a focus on innovative problem-solving.
Environmental Project Manager Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related field; advanced degrees preferred.
- Proven experience managing engineering projects within the environmental sector—particularly water resources or wastewater treatment facilities.
- Proficiency with SWMM, HEC models (HEC-RAS/Hydrologic Engineering Center), GIS platforms such as ArcGIS or similar tools.
- Skilled in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation for drafting and design purposes; familiarity with CAD standards is essential.
- Strong knowledge of environmental law including EPA regulations and permitting procedures for wastewater systems and stormwater management.
- Experience with hydrological modeling techniques for stormwater systems and floodplain analysis.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail; excellent project scheduling skills required.
- Familiarity with geotechnical engineering principles related to site assessment for water infrastructure projects.
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to wastewater treatment plant operations is a plus.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and team members.
- Prior experience in construction oversight or environmental remediation projects is advantageous.
