Momentum Environmental Services provides specialized environmental, industrial, and waste management services to several leading industries throughout the Northeast. The Safety Technician supports the Health & Safety Manager in promoting a safe work environment across all company operations. This position is ideal for an individual looking to begin or grow a career in occupational health and safety while gaining hands-on experience in environmental and industrial services. The Safety Technician reports directly to the Health & Safety Manager and assists with the administration of the company’s Health & Safety Program through field support, documentation, training coordination, compliance, inspections, and employee engagement.
Essential Responsibilities
- Support the Health & Safety Manager with the day-to-day administration of the company’s Health & Safety Program.
- Conduct routine job site visits to observe work practices, identify hazards, and reinforce safe work procedures.
- Conduct safety inspections, audits, and participate in attendant corrective action and follow-up processes.
- Learn, and train field staff in the execution of the Safety Management system.
- Help investigate incidents, near misses, and first aid cases while documenting findings and corrective actions within the company’s reporting guidelines.
- Maintain training records, certifications, and employee safety files using the company’s cloud-based Health and Safety Information System.
- Coordinate employee training including HAZWOPER, OSHA, First Aid/CPR, and site-specific requirements.
- Train staff on how to preparing toolbox talks, safety alerts, and other safety communications.
- Support the development of Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Safe Work Practices, and other safety documentation.
- Maintain the company’s safety metrics, calculations, OSHA logs, and other compliance documentation.
- Perform field observations and behavioral safety audits to encourage safe work habits.
- Assist with personal protective equipment (PPE) inventory, inspections, and distribution.
- Assist with vehicle safety inspections and fleet safety initiatives.
- Participate in new employee safety orientation and onboarding.
- Help ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company safety policies.
- Assist in maintaining safety equipment including gas monitors, confined space equipment, fall protection equipment, and first aid supplies.
- Travel to company branches and job sites to provide safety support as needed.
Perform other health and safety duties as assigned.

Specific Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Training
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction or General Industry certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- Confined Space Training
- 0–2 years of safety, environmental, construction, industrial, or related experience preferred.
- First Aid/CPR certified
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in industrial environments including outdoor conditions,
- Excellent, written, oral and communication and/or presentation skills are required.
- Must be programmatic and able to function well in a team setting and, at times, under critical schedules.
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Interest in developing a career in occupational health and safety.
- Comfortable interacting with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to learn OSHA, DOT, and other regulatory requirements.
- Self-motivated and eager to expand technical knowledge through on-the-job training.
