Extraction Lab Technician

Position Overview
Pharmers is seeking a full-time Extraction Lab Technician to join our cannabis extraction and processing team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys precision work, follows procedures carefully, and takes pride in producing consistent, high-quality cannabis extracts in a safe and compliant manufacturing environment.
We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to safety above all else. While previous extraction experience is preferred, we are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates professionalism, mechanical aptitude, and a willingness to learn complex production processes.
This role involves working with specialized extraction equipment, heated materials, solvents, and regulated manufacturing procedures. Candidates must be comfortable following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintaining detailed documentation, and contributing to a collaborative production environment where quality, cleanliness, and safety are essential.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with cannabis extraction and post-processing operations, including alcohol extraction, winterization, filtration, and distillation.
- Operate, monitor, and maintain extraction and laboratory equipment under established procedures.
- Follow recipes, batch records, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with precision and consistency.
- Monitor process parameters and accurately document production data throughout each batch.
- Assist with refining cannabis extracts into finished concentrate products.
- Perform routine equipment cleaning, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
- Maintain accurate production logs, batch records, and quality documentation.
- Assist with raw material preparation, including the occasional outdoor staging and preparation of cannabis flower for extraction. This may include manually raking, spreading, and preparing plant material prior to processing.
- Participate in general housekeeping duties, including equipment cleaning and dishwashing. All team members contribute to maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Follow all company safety procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and applicable state cannabis regulations.
- Work collaboratively with the production team to meet daily production goals while maintaining quality, consistency, and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in cannabis extraction, food manufacturing, laboratory operations, brewing, distillation, chemical processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, or a similar production environment preferred.
- Basic understanding of extraction processes, laboratory equipment, or regulated manufacturing environments is preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to safely learn specialized equipment operation.
- Must possess a current Food Handler Certification or be able to successfully obtain certification upon hire.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures precisely.
- Excellent organizational and recordkeeping skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and authorized to work in the United States.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Comfortable wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, safety glasses, respirators (when required), hair nets, and company-provided protective clothing.
- Must remain compliant with all local, state, federal, and internal cannabis industry regulations and policies.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience with alcohol extraction, winterization, short-path distillation, wiped-film distillation, or similar extraction technologies is highly desirable.
- Experience working with laboratory or production equipment in a regulated environment.
- Understanding of laboratory safety practices and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Experience documenting production records and following Standard Operating Procedures.
- Cannabis industry experience is a plus, but not required.
Working Environment
This position is performed in both laboratory and production settings and may involve working with heated equipment, solvents, extraction systems, and raw cannabis materials. Safety, cleanliness, and adherence to established procedures are critical to success in this role.
While the majority of work is performed in the laboratory and production facility, this position also includes occasional outdoor work related to preparing raw cannabis material for extraction. Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors for short periods in varying weather conditions as needed.
This is a hands-on manufacturing position where every team member contributes to the success of the department. Responsibilities include production, equipment cleaning, laboratory organization, and occasional preparation of raw materials. Teamwork, reliability, and a willingness to assist wherever needed are essential to success in this role.
