Retreat Worker/Housekeeping Associate
Reports to: Director of Operations
The Retreat Worker (Housekeeping Associate) is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and welcoming environment for all guests and staff. This role may require a high level of physical stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and professional standards. The ideal candidate will ensure that all assigned areas are kept in pristine and clean order while adhering to company protocols and health regulations.
Key Responsibilities: This job description may not have the entire scope of what may be required of the Housekeeping Associate.
● Cleaning: Perform a variety of cleaning activities including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting and polishing.
● Room Maintenance: Strip and replace linens, make beds to specific standards, and replenish amenities (towels, hand soap, linens, etc.)
● Restock & Inventory: Monitor and maintain stock levels of cleaning supplies and linens; report any shortages to management
● Waste Management: Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables in accordance with facility policies.
● Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations, including proper handling of chemicals and biohazards.
● Reporting: Notify maintenance or management of any damages, repairs needed, or security risks immediately.
Expected Hours: 20 - 40 hours weekly
Required Qualifications and Skills: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.
● Experience: Previous experience in professional cleaning or hospitality is preferred but not required.
● Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 - 50 pounds for the duration of a shift.
● Detail Oriented: A “sharp eye” for cleanliness and the ability to notice small discrepancies.
● Time Management: Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet strict deadlines (e.g. room turnover times).
● Communication: Basic proficiency in English to follow instructions and interact professionally with guests or residents.
● Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Work Environment:
● May have exposure to cleaning chemicals and occasional loud noises.
● May require weekend, holiday, or evening shifts depending on facility needs.
● Requires frequent standing, walking, bending and stooping for extended periods.
● Primarily indoor work in retreat center rooms, hallways, and public areas, may enter rustic cabins during summer
● Rural outdoor environment, low to no cellular service. Wi-fi is available
