The Position
We are looking for a friendly, dependable, and motivated Optician / Optometric Technician to join our team. This position may be full-time or part-time, depending on the right candidate.
This is a versatile role that combines patient care, clinical testing, eyewear styling, and customer service. Previous optical or healthcare experience is definitely a plus, but it is not required. We are willing to train someone who has the right attitude, strong people skills, and a genuine desire to learn.
What You'll Do
Depending on experience and training, responsibilities may include:
- Welcome patients and help create a positive, comfortable experience
- Gather patient medical and ocular history
- Perform pre-testing and visual acuity testing
- Operate diagnostic equipment such as autorefractors, retinal imaging, OCT, and other testing equipment
- Perform lensometry and assist with other clinical testing
- Assist the doctor during patient care and accurately document information in the electronic health record
- Help patients select frames that fit their prescription, lifestyle, personality, and budget
- Educate patients about lens options and make appropriate recommendations
- Take optical measurements and ensure proper frame and lens fit
- Adjust and troubleshoot eyewear
- Educate patients on contact lens care, eye drops, and other doctor-recommended instructions
- Assist with frame and contact lens inventory
- Maintain clean, organized, and patient-ready exam, testing, and optical areas
- Communicate with doctors and other team members regarding patient needs, prescriptions, and concerns
- Help wherever needed to keep the office running smoothly and provide excellent patient care

Experience & Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous optometry, optical, medical, or healthcare experience preferred but not required
- Previous sales or customer service experience is a plus
- Experience with electronic health records is a plus
- We are happy to provide on-the-job training for the right candidate
Schedule
- Full-time or part-time opportunities available
- Office hours are generally Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
- Approximately one Saturday morning per month, 8:30 AM–12:00 PM
- In-person position in Plymouth, Indiana
Compensation
$14.00–$20.00 per hour, based on previous optical/healthcare experience, skills, and qualifications.
Paid weekly.
