Hire Horizons is partnering with a long-established industrial manufacturer in Northwestern Pennsylvania that is strengthening its reliability and mechanical integrity capabilities. We are seeking a Senior Fixed Equipment Inspector who can bring hands-on inspection expertise, sound technical judgment, and a practical approach to equipment reliability.
This is a newly created, direct-hire position with the opportunity to play an influential role as the organization modernizes its mechanical integrity program. You will work closely with Reliability, Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, and other teams to help guide inspection strategy, assess equipment condition, identify emerging risks, and make recommendations that support safe, reliable operations.
The company is open to considering candidates ranging from a strong mid-level inspector to a highly experienced subject matter expert. The position offers a $100K-$190K base salary plus 10%-20% annual bonus potential, with compensation and level aligned to experience. Essential Job Functions:
- Perform and coordinate inspections of pressure vessels, piping systems, and other fixed equipment to assess condition, integrity, and fitness for continued service.
- Evaluate inspection findings, corrosion trends, degradation mechanisms, NDE results, and equipment history to identify potential mechanical integrity risks and determine next steps.
- Develop technically sound recommendations for repairs, additional testing, monitoring, inspection intervals, or other corrective actions.
- Support Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) activities and provide technical input into inspection strategies, priorities, and execution.
- Partner cross-functionally with Reliability, Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, contractors, and other stakeholders to evaluate equipment concerns and develop appropriate solutions.
- Provide field support for both planned inspection activities and unplanned equipment issues requiring timely assessment.
- Maintain accurate inspection histories, corrosion data, equipment records, and supporting documentation while helping improve the quality and completeness of existing mechanical integrity data.
- Use inspection history and equipment-condition data to identify trends and support proactive reliability and risk-reduction decisions.
- Provide mechanical integrity input into capital planning, OPEX planning, equipment improvements, and new project development.
- Spend approximately 60% of working time in the field and 40% performing technical analysis, documentation, planning, and program-related activities.
Qualifications for this role include:
- Current API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector certification required.
- Current API 570 Piping Inspector certification required.
- 10+ years of hands-on fixed equipment and piping inspection experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience inspecting and evaluating pressure vessels, piping systems, and related fixed equipment in an industrial environment.
- Working knowledge of corrosion, degradation mechanisms, NDE methods, inspection planning, and mechanical integrity principles.
- Experience supporting or participating in Risk-Based Inspection programs preferred.
- Experience using PCMS or another mechanical integrity, asset integrity, or inspection management database preferred; specific PCMS experience is not required.
- Experience maintaining and interpreting inspection histories, thickness data, corrosion information, and other equipment-condition records.
- Previous experience with a third-party inspection organization is highly desirable, but not required.
- Ability to exercise sound technical judgment and translate inspection findings into practical recommendations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across Reliability, Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, and other functions.
- Hands-on, collaborative approach with the ability to work independently while building productive relationships throughout the organization.
- Comfortable working outdoors throughout the year in an industrial operating environment.
- Maintains a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Willingness to relocate to Northwestern Pennsylvania for an on-site position; relocation assistance is available.
