QARI (Quincy Asian Resources, Inc.) is a not-for-profit social service organization dedicated to fostering and improving the social, cultural, economic, and civic lives of immigrants and their families. Through collaborations and partnerships, QARI provides culturally competent services, such as workforce development, adult education programs, youth development, and cultural events as well as information and referrals to public or other community partners.
Wutabon, Inc. is a workforce development organization that provides immigrants and other underserved individuals with employment pathways and integrated social services to support their personal and professional growth. As a sister organization to QARI (Quincy Asian Resources, Inc.), a not-for-profit social service organization founded in 2001, we work together to build innovative workforce models that empower immigrant workers and strengthen employer partnerships across Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New York. We are currently seeking a Workforce Skills Instructor who will play a key role in delivering the food service preparation training program for adult learners. This program combines language development and workforce preparation to help students achieve English proficiency and build skills to obtain positions in the food service and hospitality sectors. The Instructor will also provide students with content instruction required to obtain certifications including (but not limited to) ServSafe Food Handler, Allergens, and De-Escalation to enhance their employability and safety awareness.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct culinary and hospitality skills training for ESOL students in a 10-week program, offering two cohorts per year.
- Develop and deliver culinary, kitchen-safety, and ServSafe instruction in coordination with partner staff who provide integrated ESOL, Civics, and workplace-math instruction and Wutabon staff who lead career readiness, entrepreneurship, job applications, demonstrations, and on-site training.
- Kitchen Basics:
- Hands-on training in fundamental culinary techniques, including knife skills and food preparation.
- Introduction to kitchen tools, procedures, and typical foods found on restaurant menus.
- Curriculum units include: Food, Food Preparation, Job Tasks, Cooking, Measurement, and Recipes.
- Food Safety and ServSafe Certification:
- Deliver ServSafe Food Handler, ServSafe Allergens, and ServSafe De-Escalation training.
- Teach kitchen orientation and safety, including cleaning, handwashing, sanitization, safe food handling, temperature control, and prevention of cross-contamination.
- Prepare learners for and administer the corresponding certification exams.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required or equivalent professional experience.
- ServSafe Instructor certification for Food Handler and Allergens preferred.
- Bilingual in Portuguese, Spanish or Haitian Creole preferred.
- Proven culinary and hospitality skills and expertise, preferably with formal training or industry experience.
- Teaching or training experience, especially with ESOL students is preferred.
- Strong communication and language development skills.
- Knowledge of ServSafe Food Handler, Allergens, and De-Escalation requirements; certification-exam administration experience preferred.
- Ability to adapt to the needs of a diverse and culturally rich student population.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Passion for empowering individuals to achieve their career goals.
- Strong Google Suite and Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills, including both in person and virtual settings.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must maintain a reliable form of transportation and willingness to travel to in-person classes in Randolph and Quincy, MA.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
