Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable, licensed Water System Operator to oversee a small community water system serving a 12-unit manufactured housing community in Buena Vista, VA.
This is a low-volume, straightforward groundwater well system with routine monthly compliance requirements. This role is ideal for an independent operator looking for a simple, consistent side contract.
Responsibilities
- Perform or oversee monthly bacteriological (total coliform) sampling
- Collect water samples from approved sampling points (or coordinate collection)
- Deliver or coordinate delivery of samples to a certified lab
- Monitor basic system compliance requirements
- Maintain required logs and documentation
- Serve as Operator of Record for the system (as required by VDH)
- Communicate with the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) as needed
- Assist with annual inspections or sanitary surveys if required
- Maintain detailed records of system performance, repairs, inspections, and compliance documentation.
Experience
- Active Virginia Waterworks Operator License (Class 6, Class 5, or higher acceptable depending on qualifications)
- Familiarity with VDH drinking water regulations and compliance requirements
- Ability to reliably complete monthly compliance tasks
- Strong attention to detail and recordkeeping
- Must be able to work independently
Pay: $200.00 - $500.00 per month
