We have an exciting opportunity for a Loads, Dynamics, and Stress Analysis Engineer at our General Atomics Systems Integration (GA-SI) group in Kaysville, UT. Under general supervision with limited review, this position is responsible for determining and developing effective approaches for resolving a wide range of difficult engineering problems.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for performing structural analysis (static and dynamic) of aircraft components, assemblies, test fixtures and systems while working in an integrated team.
- Performs Finite Element Analysis of metallic structures by utilizing computer analysis methods and classical hand-calculation methods. Analysis may include stress, stability, high and low cycle fatigue, damage tolerance, fracture analysis, random vibration, shock, development of loads from time histories, etc.
- Supports the development of structural test plans, instrumentation requirements, on-site testing, and test data analysis.
- Assignments are normally outlined in terms of overall objectives and anticipated results. Work is reviewed at milestones or at completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
- Documents findings, communicates results to engineering staff and makes technical presentations as required. May coordinate segments of a specific project and may have frequent inter- organization and customer contact on difficult technical issues.
- Provides documentation and makes technical presentations as required.
- Communicates effectively and professionally in all interactions through both written and verbal methods.
- Plans for future applications of solutions based on new developments in engineering technology and approaches.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of General Atomics. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
