Mount Sopris Instruments is looking for a Logistics Manager to oversee the safe, accurate, and timely movement of products, rental equipment, repairs, materials, and documentation. This role will manage both domestic and international shipping activities, coordinate with carriers and customs brokers, and ensure shipments are properly documented and delivered according to customer and business requirements.
This is a hands-on logistics role that requires strong organization, attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities at the same time.
What You'll DoShipping & Receiving
- Plan and coordinate domestic and international shipments for sales, rentals, repairs, and internal business needs.
- Verify products, quantities, packaging, addresses, and shipping documentation before shipments are released.
- Coordinate incoming shipments and ensure received goods are routed to the appropriate team or function.
- Select carriers and shipping services based on delivery requirements, cost, timing, risk, and customer needs.
- Monitor shipments to ensure products are delivered safely, accurately, and on schedule.
International Trade & Customs
- Prepare and review commercial invoices, customs documentation, and other import/export paperwork.
- Ensure shipments include accurate classifications, values, country-of-origin information, and shipping terms.
- Coordinate with carriers, customs brokers, and customers to resolve customs, delivery, or documentation issues.
- Maintain accurate shipping and trade compliance records in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
- Help minimize customs delays and compliance risks through accurate and complete documentation.
Rental & Repair Logistics
- Coordinate outbound and return transportation for rental and repair equipment.
- Track time-sensitive shipments and communicate updates or exceptions to Sales, Technical Support, and other internal teams.
- Ensure returned equipment is routed appropriately for inspection, repair, service, or inventory processing.
- Support urgent field requirements by identifying practical and timely shipping solutions.
- Communicate shipment delays or other exceptions early and help coordinate recovery plans.
Carrier & Freight Management
- Monitor carrier performance, freight costs, claims, and recurring delivery issues.
- Evaluate shipping options and recommend improvements related to service, cost, and reliability.
- Review freight invoices and assist with resolving billing discrepancies.
- Maintain strong working relationships with carriers, freight providers, and logistics partners.
- Track and help resolve freight claims and delivery issues.
Systems, Documentation & Communication
- Maintain accurate shipment, tracking, and delivery information in company systems.
- Provide customers and internal stakeholders with clear and timely shipment status updates.
- Maintain organized shipping supplies, equipment, and work areas.
- Identify opportunities to improve logistics processes, workflows, and documentation.
- Ensure logistics procedures are organized, repeatable, and continuously improved.
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
- Experience coordinating domestic and international shipping activities.
- Working knowledge of packaging, carrier documentation, and shipment tracking.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and resolve shipping issues efficiently.
- Experience using shipping, ERP, or other business systems and standard business software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with customs brokers and export/import documentation.
- Experience handling temporary shipments or international rental equipment.
- Experience working with technical equipment, rentals, repairs, or field-service logistics.
- Experience reviewing freight costs, claims, invoices, and carrier performance.
- Experience in a manufacturing, mining, industrial, or technical equipment environment.
