Deli Assistant Manager Join Our Team!
We're looking for an energetic, dependable, and customer-focused Deli Assistant Manager to help lead our neighborhood deli. This isn't just a management position—it's an opportunity to be a leader who sets the tone for our team and creates an exceptional experience for every customer who walks through our doors.
We're a small, neighborhood store where relationships matter. Our customers know us by name, and we strive to make every visit memorable. Personality, leadership, and a positive attitude are just as important as experience.
Responsibilities
- Open and close the store
- Close out the cash register and ensure accurate cash handling
- Manage daily store operations independently two days per week
- Lead, motivate, and support a team of approximately four employees
- Deliver exceptional, over-the-top customer service and create a welcoming environment
- Prepare high-quality food with consistency and pride—making amazing food is the only acceptable standard
- Maintain a fully stocked, clean, and organized store for the next shift
- Order bread for upcoming shifts
- Place orders for cold cuts and deli products through vendors
- Place soda and beverage orders
- Receive and check in vendor deliveries for accuracy
- Take and organize catering orders with attention to detail
- Ensure food quality, freshness, cleanliness, and operational standards are consistently maintained
- Foster a positive team culture built on respect, accountability, and teamwork
Qualifications
- Previous deli, grocery, food service, or retail management experience preferred
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Comfortable working independently and making decisions
- Organized with excellent attention to detail
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable
- Able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Passion for providing outstanding customer service
- Positive attitude and willingness to lead by example
