About This Opportunity
A leading Southern California specialty contractor is seeking an organized and motivated Assistant Project Manager to support the successful execution of concrete, hardscape, site development, and specialty construction projects throughout the region.
This position is ideal for a construction professional looking to expand their project management experience while working on architecturally significant projects involving decorative concrete, site improvements, public spaces, hardscape, and specialty construction scopes. The Assistant Project Manager will work closely with Project Managers, field leadership, owners, architects, landscape architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to help ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Position Summary
The Assistant Project Manager will provide essential support throughout all phases of construction, from preconstruction through project closeout. Responsibilities include project coordination, document control, subcontractor communication, procurement support, scheduling assistance, cost tracking, and helping maintain project performance across multiple active projects.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and eager to grow within a collaborative construction environment.
Key Responsibilities

Support Project Managers with daily project coordination and administrative activities.

Process and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and project documentation.

Assist with procurement activities, subcontract administration, and material tracking.

Coordinate with owners, architects, landscape architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Review plans, specifications, and project documents to understand scope requirements and identify potential issues.

Help maintain project schedules and track key milestones.

Assist with budget tracking, cost reporting, forecasting, and project financial documentation.

Attend project meetings and maintain organized project records.

Support field operations with scheduling, logistics, and issue resolution.

Assist with inspections, closeout documentation, punch list tracking, and project turnover activities.

Help ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company quality standards.
Qualifications
-
1+ years of experience as a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, Project Coordinator, or similar construction role.

Experience supporting commercial construction, decorative concrete, site development, hardscape, or public works projects preferred.

Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.

Experience working with RFIs, submittals, change orders, and construction documentation.

Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software.
