Job Description:
A to Z Equipment Rentals is seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of heavy machinery and equipment, ensuring that all machinery operates safely and efficiently. You will work with a variety of equipment, including bulldozers, excavators, telehandlers, boom lifts, loaders, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repair work on heavy equipment including engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and other mechanical components.
- Perform service calls with company provided truck and fuel card.
- Diagnose issues and make necessary repairs or replacements to keep equipment running smoothly.
- Inspect, test, and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions to determine the root cause of issues.
- Use diagnostic tools, manuals, and specialized equipment to carry out repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work.
- Work independently or as part of a team to meet project deadlines.
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and company standards.
- Order parts and materials as needed, and ensure inventory is maintained.
- Assist with the training of junior mechanics as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required). Vocational training or certification in heavy equipment mechanics is a plus.
- Proven experience working as a heavy equipment mechanic or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems in heavy machinery.
- Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
- Ability to work independently and solve complex mechanical problems.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- OSHA or safety certification (preferred but not required).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy parts and tools (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments.
- Capable of bending, squatting, kneeling, and working in confined spaces.
