MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in computer-related field
preferred
2. Experience and familiarity with various computer operation systems (i.e.,
Windows, Microsoft, Macintosh, etc.)
3. Experience in troubleshooting computer hardware and software, technology
systems installation, configuration, safety filters, and components
4. Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
5. Good public relations skills
6. Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure
under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
7. Ability to work a flexible schedule
8. Effective leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills and ability to be an
instructional leader across multiple settings.
9. Ability to work collaboratively as a team member with large and/or diverse
groups.
10. Proficiency in oral, written, and electronic communications with the ability to
produce, lead, and deliver presentations to various stakeholders.
11. Possess effective management skills to supervise and direct technology
employees

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Demonstrates support for the school system, its purpose, direction, and priorities.
2. Provides administrative leadership for school system technology programs and
systems.
3. Conducts staff meetings and trainings to promote efficient functioning of the
technology program.
4. Demonstrates the ability to multi-task, to delegate appropriately, and to prioritize
tasks efficiently.
5. Maintains confidentiality of any Board of Education business, its staff, and its
students.
6. Attends board meetings and work sessions and prepares reports for the board as
needed.

7. Directs the overall technology program for the St. Clair County School System.
8. Represents the school system at technology conferences and demonstrates the
ability to present and promote St. Clair County technology initiatives and needs.
9. Supervises the technology staff in planning, designing, purchasing, maintaining,
upgrading, protecting, repairing, installing and implementing technology
components and systems.
10. Coordinates purchasing of software and hardware under the guidance of the
CSFO; develops, maintains, and monitors the system technology plans and
budgets.
11. Evaluates and submits bids related to technology purchases.
12. Investigates and proposes new policies and procedures related to school system
technology.
13. Analyzes and remedies functionality problems with the technology hardware,
software, and data systems.
14. Directs infrastructure and server capacity planning.
15. Formulates, initiates, and maintains firewall systems and technology security
policies.
16. Creates and updates school system technology network documentation.
17. Supervises E-Rate filings, following all guidelines and established time lines.
18. Monitors school compliance with technology policies and applicable laws and
regulations (data governance, etc.) and makes needed recommendations to
school administrators related to compliance issues.
19. Directs the professional development of technology staff to maintain current
training, licensure, and/or up-to-date job performance.
20. Oversees the creation and implementation of the St. Clair County School System
Technology Plan.
21. Collaborates with Superintendent about safety concerns related to technology.
22. Collaborates with the Elementary and Secondary Curriculum Coordinators about
technology use within the classrooms.
23. Maintains a record of repairs completed, parts used/needed and other
appropriate documents.
24. Provides technical support in all technology areas as needed.
25. Assists in writing grants associated with technology program acquisitions and
improvements.
26. Collaborates with Human Resource Coordinator with evaluating and hiring staff
according to school system policies, procedures, and time lines.
27. Provides plans for maintaining technology system updates, software licensing,
and other required technology-related equipment.
28. Establishes and maintains appropriate back-up disaster recovery procedures for
technology systems.
29. Collaborates with Operations Director to meet with State inspectors for building
inspections.
30. Collaborates with Operations Director to work on building construction and
design as needed to implement effective technology systems.
31. Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of
responsibility.
32. Creates and manages technology budgets.
33. Lifts equipment up to fifty (50) pounds.

34. Maintains a neat and professional appearance.
35. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
36. Operates school system-owned vehicles in accordance with state law and school
board policy.
37. Reports potential problems, unusual events or work irregularities to appropriate
administrative or supervisory personnel.
38. Responds to inquiries, requests, constructive feedback, concerns, and/or
complaints in a timely and positive manner.
39. Maintains and submits reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and
accurate manner.
40. Properly uses and cares for tools, equipment and materials resources of the
school system and effectively supervises and monitors others in the care,
maintenance and use of tools, equipment, and inventory.
41. Serves on school system committees, task forces, and representative groups as
required.
42. Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with board policies and
procedures.
43. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies,
and state, federal, and local laws.
44. Performs other job-related duties as directed by the Superintendent.
SALARY: Based on the St. Clair County School System Salary Schedule
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 month
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated according to board policy.
