Overview
Labor and Delivery RNs (L&D RNs) are responsible for monitoring patients throughout labor and serve as the primary point of contact for family members. L&D RNs monitor the baby’s heart rate and provide immediate care to the newborn. L&D RN job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform knowledge of phlebotomy, basic IV, and central lines
- Assess and record maternal vital signs throughout labor and post-partum stages
- Administer pain medication and other medicines as ordered
- Educate and support new mothers and families on infant care
Requirements
- Current RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN license (eNLC).
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant nursing experience.
- Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- 1 year of recent RN experience in the specialty applying for.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association
- Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Certificate.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – Advanced Provider or Instructor certification.
