DMV Vehicle Patrol Lieutenant
Platinum Security is currently seeking qualified candidates for a DMV Vehicle Patrol Lieutenant position in the Sacramento, California area. This position is responsible for training, supervising, and managing officers assigned to all standing DMV accounts, while also covering standing posts when necessary.
The DMV Vehicle Patrol Lieutenant will be responsible for driving throughout DMV Regions 2, 4, and 6 to assist with the overall operations of all DMV client locations. Responsibilities include conducting inspections, training new officers, responding to incidents, assisting with staffing coverage, and maintaining strong client relationships throughout assigned regions.
DMV Lieutenants must possess strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, de-escalation abilities, and the capability to respond professionally in high-pressure situations.
Essential Job Functions
- Assume overall responsibility for the safety and security of assigned DMV locations
- Patrol and provide operational support throughout DMV Regions 2, 4, and 6
- Train and support newly hired security officers
- Conduct site inspections, evaluations, and compliance checks
- Provide detailed daily reports at the conclusion of each shift
- Manage open positions, cross-training, scheduling, and overtime coverage
- Conduct employee evaluations, coaching, counseling, investigations, and incident reporting
- Identify operational trends and develop corrective action plans
- Process reports to improve operations and strengthen client relationships
- Assist Field Operations with client relations and special assignments
- Cover standing posts and open shifts as needed
- Respond promptly to emergencies and incidents in accordance with company policy
- Maintain professionalism and conflict resolution skills during stressful situations
- Maintain positive client relationships at assigned DMV sites
- Assist Platinum Security with additional accounts when operationally necessary
- Perform additional duties as assigned by Platinum Security and/or the client
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 1–2 years of supervisory experience required
- 2–3 years of security experience preferred
- Valid California Guard Card required
- Valid Driver’s License required
- Ability to pass a background check
- Ability to remain calm and respond effectively during critical incidents
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to perform continuous physical activity as required
- Working knowledge of security procedures and techniques
- Ability to work outdoors and in inclement weather as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous patrol or field supervision experience
- Strong report writing and incident documentation abilities
- Experience working with government or state contracts preferred
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

- 8-hour shifts
- 12-hour shifts
